LSC is accepting applications for 2020-2021 Project Partners

People + Passion = Impact

Request for LSC Class Projects 2020-21

Due by 5 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2020

Dear Potential Project Partner,

We all need help. Extra hands. Thought partners. You are invited to submit a project proposal to become a 2020-21 Leadership Snohomish County Community Impact Project Partner. For 24 years, we have used hands-on service projects as the means to shorten the distance between the talk and the walk in our community. We rely on you to define the needs of our community through an impact project request.

THINK BIG: If you had a pro bono team of 3 to 5 leaders invested in your mission, what project would you task them on to move your organization forward in a significant way?

Do you welcome help post COVID to define ways to work to bridge gaps that you have discovered this last year – workplan, equity or strategic gaps?  Perhaps you are seeking a strategic plan to maximize your reach ... A new way to replace a live annual event to boost your brand and bottom line ... A corporate responsibility plan to help live your values in your community ... The possibilities are endless!

What is Leadership Snohomish County?

Leadership Snohomish County's mission is to connect, ignite and develop sustainable leaders to strengthen our communities. Our 9-month program helps business, government and nonprofit professionals acquire an understanding of the critical issues affecting the region and the stewardship capabilities needed to resolve them.

Who Will Work on Your Community Impact Project?

Project teams of 3 to 5 people are formed in both our Signature classes and our Young Professionals class. Signature projects are assigned in September and Young Professionals in early October. The team will work with you to co-create outcomes to best serve and support your mission.

Submit a Project Proposal

LSC partners with community agencies to create projects that fulfill a need identified by the agency. We invite nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, city or government offices, or businesses to submit requests. The majority of the project partners will be nonprofit organizations.

Deadlines

Projects must serve Snohomish County and be completed by July 24, 2020. Use the form below to submit a request. Please send your completed proposal application to kathyc@leadershipsc.org no later than 5 p.m. on July 24th. Call LSC with any questions at 425-508-5872.

LSC alumni will review your project proposal and you will be notified by in August on the status of your project application. If your project is selected, you will be invited to a mandatory project orientation on Thursday, September 10 from 3:30-5 p.m. Please mark your calendar!

Tips for Proposing a Community Impact Project

CLEARLY DEFINE YOUR PROJECT

When we review proposed projects, we are evaluating whether:

 1) there will be enough work for 3 to 5 people to do,

2) if the project itself will result in a value added to the organization,

3) if the project will require participants to use crucial leadership skills (communication,

research, teamwork, problem-solving, commitment, and time management), and

4) whether the project is sustainable.

MAKE THE TIME

We also expect our project partners to be committed and dynamic, so be sure you have a dedicated volunteer within your organization who can serve as a project manager/point person, and be sure that person has the time and knowledge to help our team achieve success for all. The point person will be required to attend the project orientation. Your organization’s ED (or Founder, President, CEO, etc.) may attend as well if desired.

PROJECTS MUST BE READY TO GO

If your project is dependent on something specific, such as a federal report, it is essential that you have the report in hand. Another example: If you are applying for a project that involves remodeling a shelter, you must already own that shelter and not be in negotiations to buy it soon.

Please be sure that all elements upon which the project depends are all in place. You will work with your project team in your first meeting to confirm or co-define the scope and deliverables.

If you have questions, please email Kathy Coffey  kathyc@leadershipsc.org or call 425-508-5872.
