Officer Dan Rocha served as a police officer with the Everett Police Department for four years and had previously served as a parking enforcement officer. He made the ultimate sacrifice on March 25, 2022, when he was killed in the line of duty protecting our community. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, friend, colleague, and public servant. He loved his family and friends, his career, and the community he served. He was friendly and welcomed people with a smile, kindness, and curiosity.

Officer Dan Rocha was an authentic leader: showed up as his true, honest self, led with heart, made real connections with people, sought to understand and was open to learning. His style of leadership and dedication to public service earned him deep respect and adoration from our community. He made people feel like they mattered. He made them feel like they were seen. At home, his leadership shows up in his two young sons who are active in their local community and leaders among their peers.

The Officer Dan Rocha Memorial First Responder Scholarship Fund honors his memory and will help first responders foster leadership skills to continue their impact in the community through Leadership Snohomish County’s civic leadership programs. It is awarded to first responders who demonstrate exemplary leadership and service. “This is an amazing way to honor Dan’s life and legacy,” said Chief Templeman.

Leadership Snohomish County is about community, and we are extremely grateful for Officer Dan Rocha’s service, Chief Templeman and the Everett Police Department. This gratitude extends to all first responders working in police and fire departments, and individuals who choose to serve each day putting their lives on the line to enhance and protect our communities.
