Living Traditions: Indigenous Voice & Artists Series
Chad James, Janella Lewis, Marlena Powers & Pablo Colindres Moreno
The mission of Living Traditions: Indigenous Voices & Artists Series is to create a welcoming, community-centered space where Indigenous storytellers, artists, and cultural knowledge keepers—representing local tribal communities as well as Indigenous nations beyond the region—can share living traditions through story, language, art, and hands-on learning.
In partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries, the series aims to:
• Strengthen cultural understanding
• Support intergenerational connection
• Expand access to Indigenous-led public programs
The work would be guided by principles of respect, consent, and cultural protocols, and designed for people of all ages and backgrounds across Snohomish and Island Counties. Janella herself has volunteered to be a presenter sharing stories from her Athabascan (Alaska Native) culture, and we’re also hoping to partner with Tribes in Snohomish and Island Counties to bring in additional storytellers, artists, and knowledge keepers.
