ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Lois Langer Thompson is Executive Director of Sno-Isle Libraries, providing services to over 850,000 residents across 2,200 square miles of rural, suburban, and urban areas throughout Snohomish and Island Counties. Residents have access to 23 libraries, two bookmobiles, online resources, and library events. 

With a new vision – everyone in our community is connected to their library – the Library is focused on enhancing library services, creating inspiring spaces, optimizing funding, and investing in the organization.

The Library has 500 employees, 700 volunteers, and a $70.6 million annual budget that ensures the delivery of responsive library services and resources to communities in an equitable and fiscally responsible manner.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Fred Safstrom is the Chief Executive Officer for Housing Hope.  He has served Housing Hope for over 20 years, first as a member of the Board of Directors (including a term as President).   He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with finance emphasis from Seattle University and completed the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute at UW’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.  His past experience includes a career with Cascade Bank, including 10 years as President and Chief Operating Officer, and a five year term as Executive Director of the Everett Public Facilities District, the developer and owner of the Everett Events Center (now Angel of the Winds Arena).

Please join LSC for Lunch with Leaders Speaker Series with Dr. Mary Schoenfeldt. Lunch With a Leader series is designed to benefit all LSC alumni. Conversations are organic and alumni-led. Though virtual, we are limitting to 20 people to assure an intimate dialogue. If you RSVP and can’t make it, let us know so we can offer the space to someone else at leoc@leadershipsc.org .

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Mary Schoenfeldt, is an Emergency Management Professional who has spent her career with people around the world. She works with schools, government, businesses, tribal leaders and communities. She responded to high profile communities such as Littleton Colorado, New Orleans, Haiti and Newtown Connecticut. She traveled to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to work with the school and community. She stayed when her assignment was over to study the impact of a community crisis on Emergency Management and the community as a whole.

She values all stakeholders.. young, old, educated, uneducated, professional, lay person. She was recognized by the International Association of Emergency Managers for her emergency preparedness campaign, Who Depends On You? She developed a model of volunteer/professional integration for a large city festival and parade that resulted in a collaborative Incident Command System that acted as a recruiting event for CERT programs and added a sophisticated element of training to all… professional and non professional participants.

She has held various positions within activated EOC’s … Deputy EOC Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Public Information Officer, Section Chief, Mental Health Coordinator, and Recovery Director.

Her work has won awards from the International Association of Emergency Managers, she was inducted into the HALL OF FAME of the International Network of Women in Emergency Management, was honored by The International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and is Board President of the Disaster Mental Health agency, Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. Mary volunteers with humanitarian organizations and is active in her Rotary club where she earned the Service Above Self award for not only local but also international projects.
