Leadership Snohomish County is excited to have Amy King, owner and CEO of Pallet, present in our Lunch with a Leader Series. Please join us in conversation and community building with Amy.
Register: Lunch with Amy King
Amy King is the owner and CEO of Pallet, a Social Purpose Corporation striving to improve the human condition while also being a successful and profitable company. Through several market segments, Pallet prevents and reduces homelessness of those who find themselves in transition due to disaster, homelessness, or work force housing. This is done both through the high-quality shelters that they build in Everett, Washington and the invaluable people who produce them. They are second-chance friendly; hiring and investing in people actively engaged in recovery and reintegration from addiction, homelessness and incarceration.
Amy and her husband, Brady King, started Square Peg Development in 2014 and skilled labor shortages led them to hire previously incarcerated individuals. As they heard the stories and struggles of their employees, they became passionate about removing barriers to re-entry and sought to provide an opportunity to more individuals in transition. They currently employ 50+ individuals, 90% of which have a history of incarceration, addiction, and/or homelessness. In 2016, they founded Weld Seattle, a non-profit corporation geared toward removing barriers to employment, housing and supportive community for individuals actively engaged in re-entry. Amy has a degree in Psychology and spent most of her career in Healthcare Administration, with a focus on managing large surgical practices. This business experience prepared her for the opportunity of owning and operating her current companies while fulfilling her dream of working for a company that is both people focused and profitable.
